Mexico overcomes a deficit to defeat Colombia in U-23 Baseball World Cup

In the second and third innings, Colombia produced runs in a manner very similar to what they did in the second inning. The leadoff batters in both innings, Branley Jaraba and Hector Martinez, reached base via base hits, advanced via sacrifice bunts, and scored via groundouts.
In the second inning, Mexico attempted to use the same strategy against Carlos De Avila, but center fielder Elmer Lopez’s bunt resulted in second baseman Javier Sanchez being tagged out by catcher Jair Camargo. Sanchez had taken off from third base late on Lopez’s bunt.

While Mexico improved their record in the Super Round to 2-1 and will close off Day 2 against the World No. 2 and hosts Chinese Taipei on Friday at 19:00 local time, Colombia’s record fell to 0-3 and they will play Australia at 10:00. Mexico will have the advantage in this match.
